Hey everyone,

Just want to recap the latest happenings, I think this year has been a good one with lots of stuff to learn. I managed to understand things I wasn’t able to in the past, Loopthing managed to reach a decisive point which I hope it’s going to be all right, became a student, started learning Italian, and also went through many many small things that should help me in the future.

For now, this is it, I don’t have much to say, just to push things hard around us.

Happy holidays,
Vladimir Ghetau

Now, as I was playing with Vimeo’s API, I stumbled across this video:

Now, I wonder what’s the connection between the dead animal singing and the lyrics which say “You are so beautiful…”.

I am excited to announce that the Loopthing social networking platform got an important update today, which mainly has something to do with professionals from the online environment providing consultancy services for SEO, SEM, online marketing and PR.

This major update is part of a long plan that Loopthing has ahead, and enables account managers to manage other businesses’ profiles on the Loopthing business network.

How this can be applied to your SEO, SEM, online marketing, PR consultancy/web development business?

Now you can pitch your customers about a new set of services you added to your business:

  • submitting their business to Loopthing
  • maintain this profile, where you both have control over the shared content

The reason why this should be included into your business plan is because your company doesn’t need to pay anything to get started, while you can charge your customers the activity you put into developing their Loopthing profile.

Building a profile on Loopthing is simple, the staff is helpful and there’s tips on the way while you use the site. Once you do it for a business, it will be very easy to do it for the other ones inside your portfolio.

Plus, this comes with no obligation from your customers, and they can take control over their accounts whenever they want.

This feature is very useful for some of your customers (probably all) who want to expose more of their brand online, and get seen all over the Internet. Loopthing is there to provide you with the ability to set up and manage profiles for other businesses, while they are still in control.

How can this help my SEO company?

Loopthing has a feature called “websites urls” which displays up to three urls on your customers business’ profile. These links are nofollow free, and you can link to the home page of the company that hired you or/and their blog.

There’s also a feature called “news feeds” where business owners can submit their blog/RSS feed as a news source, or even their Loopthing profile. This is very helpful because the “news feeds” page connects the Loopthing visitors with these pages as well.

There are also SEO related elements that we are currently working on which are going to enhance the effects of sharing your company’s information with the Loopthing visitors.

Why is so important for my customers to be on Loopthing?

Loopthing is a business networking platform which integrates elements of social networking, social media, branding and online marketing.

Joining a site like Loopthing, a service specifically tailored to businesses interacting with individuals, is the next logical step to take for an entrepreneur. This is because two-thirds of the internet users are now involved in a social networking or blogging activity [source: Nielsen wire].

And here’s the good part, Loopthing not only targets businesses, but provides a good share to individuals as well. These people can be easily converted into customers by being on the site.

Got questions?

Read the official blog post announcing the new features and let me know how it goes, I’d be more than happy to hear your comments and opinions.

wordpress crackedMy blog started showing up an error today, Joseph reported it to me as soon as he saw the problem.

Problem was, when I tried to fix it, somebody else changed the code of my index.php file of my wordpress instalation.

The code introduced there, was a hidden iframe pointing to:

http://c9u.at:8080/ts/in.cgi?pepsi147

It seems I’m not the only one having this issue, the attack came from two different IPs according to Gupi, the owner of the server: 79.116.233.252 and 65.188.207.196.

The cracker already knew my password. Scanned for keyloggers, and trojans and my assumption is that passsword has been stolen by sniffing the network traffic. FTP is a plain text unsecure protocol, which let to this problem.

The attacked files were only the index ones from all over the public folder.

The script which is requested through the iframe can be anything which tracks the traffic of the targeted site, to a live source of IP addresses of new, potential victims.

I’m still trying to find how my password leaked…

Ah, and in the end a Facebook fun happening:

facebook-bossGetting caught on Facebook by your boss whose inside your friends list is stupid, saying you don’t like your job but keep doing it, is called waste of everyone’s time – including yours.

Got to close this post with a big LOL!

Thanks for taking part of this experiment! In exchange I’ve got something rewarding to give you back, please read on.

I know you’re willing to learn more on social media and how you can apply this to your business, that’s why I invite you to  follow @loopthing on Twitter, and then submit your business to Loopthing.com.

This is it!

If this doesn’t make any sense to you, it’s OK, it wasn’t designed to. This post is part of an experiment related to this tweet.

microsoft-bing-logo-designInitially, I’ve thought this is something that is done by bing.com haters, but it seems the HTTP referrer SPAM made for bing’s benefit is done from IPs belonging to the Microsoft corporation. The apache logs don’t lie:

65.55.104.61 – Referrer: http://www.bing.com/search?q=month (using IE 6)
65.55.104.64 – Referrer: http://www.bing.com/search?q=month (IE6)
… and so on, for 30 more times in a weekend

Now, try a whois for these IP addresses, like so.

I’ve noticed this two weeks after bing was launched and I’m not sure how legit this is from Microsoft’s side.

Loopthing - Business NetworkingThis summer is being a blessing for Loopthing, the business networking platform. We just finished integrating the Twitter functionality for business profiles, and there’s few more other features integrated as well.

A sample page where twitter is the news feed page of the Loopthing company profile.

Besides the Twitter integration, we also added RSS feeds news feeds reader which also adds content to the profile page of any company joining Loopthing.

Two more other features were also integrated into the networking functionality of the site. The networks members can now upload media files (audios, videos and images), and they can also store files into the repository of each network.

I’m going to keep you posted on updates related to Loopthing, but for now, this is it! Here’s the official blog post announcing the Twitter integration feature.

Loopthing - Business Networking
twitter-bird-2

Good news for the social media community out there. Loopthing will integrate Twitter in the following days and this was a feature which we kind of pushed and prioritized it into the plan.

This is because social media is the most important aspect of promoting a business online nowadays, and here it is. It will take few days until it’s complete, but it will be there. The good news is confirmed by a blog entry posted on the official blog of Loopthing.

Basically businesses will have their tweets flow available on their profile, and as an extension to this, I can tell you there’s more stuff to help businesses promote themselves coming soon.

So…

Loopthing + Twitter = LOVE
